I like to write poems and I also want to help the less fortunate. How to combine these two things? In January 2021 I began posting a daily haiku to Facebook. The daily haiku has been well received so I thought maybe I could turn my interest in writing poems to the advantage of causes I support.
Rather than 'generic' poems I am happy to offer you customized and personalized poems for yourself or to offer to someone as a gift. Whether or not you donate to my charity of choice is up to you but I encourage you to do so. Here are some ideas for the kind of poems you could request:
- You could submit a photo of a place that is of particular meaning to yourself and ask me to write something inspired by it
- You could ask me to write a poem where each line starts with the letter of a loved one's name (see sample below) - this would work best if you gave me some ideas about what you would like to celebrate about the person - what characteristics they have that you admire/love and their relationship to you (spouse, sibling, parent, child)
- You could ask me to write a poem on a theme
